League Details

How Does It Work?

Just like the name, it's 4-on-4 full court basketball.  Men's and Co-ed teams/individuals are welcome, but there are no co-ed required rules.  You'll play a three-team round robin format.  Each "match" is a 3-game round-robin, in which each team plays two 20-minute games against 2 opponents (with no overtime).  We keep it exciting for everyone on the team through our three levels of play (Sorta Players, Casual and Extremely Casual).

What’s the Cost and What’s Included?

Early/regular registration will open July 26th/August 6th and close August 5th/August 20th, or earlier if the league sells out. League fees are $950/$1050 for a team of 8 players ($35 for each additional player over 8 - no limit to number of players on your roster) and $140/$150 for individuals (we'll get everyone on a team). ZogSports donates a percentage of our profit to charity.

Fee includes:
  • 7 regular season matches and 1 scrimmage match
  • One head referee/game
  • A heart-wrenching single elimination playoff tournament (Top 4 teams in each division qualify)
  • One t-shirt per person on the roster
  • Gym fees
  • "Prize Money" from our sponsors donated to the winning team's charity of choice
  • League administration
  • Organized Happy Hours at local bars after the game

When Does it Start and When Are the Games?

  • Games will begin with scrimmages the week of September 12th
  • Regular season games will begin the week of September 19th
  • The league will run on Sunday late afternoon/early evenings with games going from 3:00-10:00pm

 Where Are We Playing?

All games will be played in great locations including:
  • PS 6 Lillie Devereaux Blake - 45 East 81st Street (between Madison and Park Avenue)
  • PS 191 Amsterdam School - West 61st Street (between Amsterdam and West End Avenue)
  • Edward Reynolds Westside High School - 102nd Street (between Amsterdam & Columbus)

Please note that game times, location and dates mentioned above are a very good guideline, but may change slightly.

What Are the Rules?

This is a fun recreational league.  We want everyone to play, stay involved and stay safe.  The key rules are:

  • 4-on-4
  • Scoring - Each regular field goal is worth 2 points. A successful shot from behind the 3-point arc (19'9") is worthy 3 points (only when gym is marked). Foul shots are worth 1 point.
  • Three 20-minute games/match involving 3 teams. Each team plays 2 teams once for a total of 2 games per match. Each game counts in the standings (3 points for a win, 0 points for a loss, 1 point for a tie).
  • Starting with the 7th foul teams will shoot 2 shots with change of possession on a made 2nd shot or a live ball on a missed 2nd shot.
  • Discretionary 30-second shot clock.
  • For full set of rules, see link at top of page

Levels of Play

  • Sorta Players - Pretty good athletes, maybe played together before, but still social and laid back.
  • Casual Division - Played before? Not a bad athlete? This is the happy middle ground.

ZogSports will try to accommodate all team and individual player requests for Division, but cannot guarantee all requests. We will not place a team or player more than 1 division (above or below) their original request
