League Information

How Does It Work?

It's 10 on 10, 6 men and 4 women on the field at all times, with 1 male extra hitter. It's modified arc (6-12 feet) and we keep it exciting for everyone on the team through our 3 or 4 divisions (Players, Sorta Players, Casual and Extremely Casual).

What’s the Cost and What’s Included?

Early/regular registration will open February 5th and close February 15th/29th or earlier if the league sells out. We wish we had room for everyone but alas, that's NYC. The cost is $1999/2099 per team or $150/160 per individual. Team rosters are unlimited.  Individual rosters are generally 16-20 players (7-9 women and 9-11 men). ZogSports donates a percentage of our profit to charity.

Fee includes:

  • 12 regular season games
  • 50% of teams will make the heart-wrenching single elimination playoff tournament
  • Field fees
  • Professional umpires
  • Individual teams - one t-shirt per person on the roster
  • Full teams - can request to purchase shirts through ZogSports or provide their own shirts/uniforms with numbers
  • Equipment for individual teams
  • Equipment - not included for full teams. Each team must supply a set of bases, one new softball per game, a catcher's mask and your own bats, etc. We will arrange for the purchase of the required equipment for each team upon request.
  • "Prize Money" from our sponsors donated to the winning team's charity of choice
  • League administration
  • Organized Happy Hours at local bars after the games

When Does it Start and When Are the Games?

The league starts in April. Games will be on Weekday and Sunday evenings. Games will start between 5:30PM and 9PM. Because some of the fields we will be using are not lit and we need to play when the sun is shining, teams should expect to have a handful of their games start between 5:30PM and 6:30PM.

Where Are We Playing?

All games will be played in great locations including:

  • Asphalt Green (90th and York)
  • Central Park (North Meadow, Great Lawn, Heckscher)
  • Chelsea Park 28th and 10th
  • Colonel Charles Young (144th and Lennox)
  • Dewitt Clinton Park (54th and 11th)
  • Frederick Douglas Playground (101st and Amsterdam)
  • Murry Bergtraum High School (Cherry and Market)
  • Riverbank State Park (138th and Riverside Drive)
  • Riverside Park #6 (107th and Riverside Drive
  • Riverside Park #7/8 (148th and Riverside Drive)
  • Roosevelt Island (Pony, Capobianco and Firefighters)
Please note that game times, location and dates mentioned above are a very good guideline, but may change slightly.

What Are the Rules?

This is a fun recreational league. So we want everyone to play, stay involved and stay safe. The key rules are:

  • 10 on 10, 6 men and 4 women on the field at all times with 1 extra male hitter
  • Modified arc (6-12 feet) pitching
  • 7-inning games
  • For full set of rules, see link at top of page

Levels of Play

  • Players Division - Think you're a jock? This division will be competitive, but still fun.
  • Sorta Players - Pretty good athletes, maybe played together before, but still social and laid back.
  • Casual Division - Played before? Not a bad athlete? This is the happy middle ground.
  • Extremely Casual Division - this is the pure fun division. It's for you if you're looking more for the social than the competition or consider yourself a beginner at the organized game.
ZogSports will try to accommodate all team and individual player requests for Division, but cannot guarantee all requests. We will not place a team or player more than 1 division (above or below) their original request.
