How Does It Work?

It's 8 on 8, 5 men and 3 women on the field at all times. It's no contact, 2-hand touch football. And we keep it exciting for everyone on the team through our four divisions (Players, Sorta Players, Casual and Extremely Casual) and our “female as a primary player” rule.

What's the Cost and What's Included?

Early/regular registration will open January 28th and close February 8th/ 22nd or earlier if the league sells out. League fees are $1275/$1375 for a team of up to 15 players ($35 for each additional player over 15 - no limit to number of players on your roster) and $120/$130 for individuals (we'll get everyone on a team). ZogSports donates a percentage of our profit to charity.
Fee Includes:

• 7 regular season games and 1 scrimmage
• One head referee/game
• 50% of the teams will qualify for the heart-wrenching single elimination playoff tournament
• One t-shirt per person on the roster
• Field fees
• Equipment
• "Prize Money" from our sponsors donated to the winning team's charity of choice
• League administration
• Organized Happy Hours at local bars after the games

When Does It Start and When Are the Games?

The season starts the weekend of March 8th with scrimmages.  Regular season games begin the weekend of March 15th.  There will be no games played Easter weekend, March 22nd and 23rd.  Games will be played between 12-7pm.

Where Are We Playing?

Games will take place at the following fields. Because the amount of field space we have at each field varies we try and give all teams an even amount of games at each location. 

• Asphalt Green (90th and York) - (Please note: We only have this field for a total of 6 hours all season)
• Booker T. Washington Park (108th and Amsterdam)
• Brooklyn Tech High School (510 Clermont Avenue) - (Please note: Due to limited field space at Riverbank State Park and on Roosevelt Island each team will play 1 game at this field)
• Chelsea Park (28th Street and 10th Avenue)
  
• East River Park Fields #1&2 (Just south of Delancy and FDR)
• Roosevelt Island - Capobianco, Firefighters and Pony Field (One stop off of Manhattan Island)
• Riverbank State Park (138th and Riverside Drive)
• Riverside Park #6 (107th and Riverside Drive)

What Are the Rules?

This is a fun, recreational touch football league, so we want everyone to play, stay involved and stay safe. The key rules are:

• 8 on 8, 5 men and 3 women on the field at all times
• No contact, 2-hand touch
• A woman must be a Primary Player on a play within 3 consecutive plays
• Scoring - 6 points for touchdown and your decision for 1 or 2-point conversion. (After the game, the team that has the most fun wins)

Levels of Play

• Players Division - Think you're a jock? This division will be competitive, but still fun.
• Sorta Players - Pretty good athletes, maybe played together before, but still social.
• Casual Division - Played before? Not a bad athlete? This is the happy middle ground.
• Extremely Casual Division - this is the pure fun division. It's for you if you're looking more for the social than the competition or consider yourself a beginner at the organized game.

 ZogSports will try to accommodate all team and individual player requests for Division, but cannot guarantee all requests. We will not place a team or player more than 1 division (above or below) their original request.
